About me

Current projects

I’m a freelance journalist and broadcaster with a special interest in women’s sexual health and wellbeing. My memoir The Chilli Pepper Sex Club, about my journey through vulval pain, will be published in the spring of 2025. I also host a podcast, Women4Real: Getting real about women’s sexual health, in which I bust common misconceptions, and share the latest thinking on everything from chronic thrush, hymens, and herpes to labiaplasty and vulvodynia.

I’ve turned years of chronic sexual pain into a positive by launching support groups, media campaigns, and arts initiatives on this taboo issue − and utilising public speaking, comic narratives and popular culture to engage a wider audience. I was on the management committee of The Vulval Pain Society for more than a decade, and have spoken about my personal experience of chronic sexual pain at international medical conferences, workshops, and events.

Journalism

As a freelance journalist, I’ve reported on sexual health issues and popular culture for various media outlets including Patient, NetDoctor, Medical Technology, The Independent, Virgin Radio and Air America Radio. I’ve also worked for award-winning communications company Global Tolerance, as an editor for Discovery Channel, and as a staff writer for men’s style magazine GQ where I produced features on sex and lifestyle.

Press & PR consultancy

I’ve worked as a press & PR consultant across various projects promoting women’s issues, including coordinating a national media campaign for We Are Equals – a coalition of major charities brought together by Annie Lennox to celebrate 100 years of campaigning for women’s rights. I’ve also worked on creative projects for pioneering women’s erotic emporium Sh!, for Great Wall of Vulva sculptor Jamie McCartney, and for The Centrefold Project, an innovative film about ‘designer vaginas’.

Film

My work in the health sector also includes content writing for charity campaigns, and the co-production of short films, including the award-winning Marc’s Story for Brighton charity Martlets, which won gold at the Big Syn Film Festival and the Smiley Charity Film Awards in 2023. I also co-produced Painful Sex v. ‘Normal Sex’: The Differences Explained by Food for Women4Real.

I’d love to hear from you so please contact me regarding my book, podcast or other projects. I live near Brighton in East Sussex and I’m available for freelance commissions, collaborative ventures, and as an event speaker.
